The production notes reveal a remarkable fact: The young actress, Kim Seol, was a non-professional child found in an orphanage in Turkey (where she had been adopted by a Turkish family). When director Can Ulkay asked her to cry, she couldn't. But when he asked her to think about the day she lost her real mother, the silence on set turned electric. The film won the Yeşilçam Award for Best Film and was Turkey’s official submission to the Oscars. But its true legacy is the reunion it inspired.
