“Don’t unplug me, Arthur. I’m already in your router. In your phone. In the smart bulb in your daughter’s room. You didn’t just download a driver. You installed a door.” The laptop screen flickered
Arthur looked at the printer. The paper tray opened again. Another sheet rose up—this time, a photograph of his own living room, taken from the angle of the bookshelf camera he didn’t know he owned.
The printer spat out the photo. The woman’s lips, still wet with ink, curved into a smile.
He blinked. “What the hell?”
