Uwe chuckled. “Son, the sign at the gate says FKK . It doesn’t say ‘optional.’ But the mind takes longer to undress than the body.” He nodded toward the lake. “First time?”
A crunch of dry leaves, a pause, then another crunch. Uwe opened one eye.
Uwe watched him wade in up to his waist, then gasp as the cool water embraced him. After a moment, Lukas turned back toward the shore. For the first time that morning, he smiled. A real smile. The kind that starts in the chest, not the cheeks.
Uwe watched as the man sat down stiffly behind a bush, still wearing his linen shorts. He looked like a spy in a foreign land, afraid to be discovered.
