Thanks to a recent re-watch of the (let’s call it “Version 1”), we’re taking a nostalgia-drenched dive into this Italian–German co-production, directed by Mario Gariazzo (under the pseudonym Roy Garrett). What’s the Deal? White Slave follows Catherine (played by the striking Elvire Audray), a young photojournalist on assignment in the Amazon rainforest. After a plane crash, she is captured by a sadistic ivory hunter named Ronan. Our “white slave” of the title is forced to survive the brutal conditions of the jungle, evade tribal captors, and ultimately fight her way to freedom.
