What makes Episode 1 so refreshing is the immediate gender-role flip. Honoka is the damsel in distress – flustered, helpless, and constantly needing rescue. Ayaka is the stoic, overpowered hero. When a rival witch freezes the entire school, Ayaka strides forward, declares, “You are not fit to touch his hair,” and incinerates the threat without breaking a sweat.
